ベイエリアのトレイル Baylands Nature Preserve – Bay Area Trail

今回はパロアルトにあるBaylands Nature Preserveにやってきた。ここも、隣のMayfield Islandまで繋げるとBair Islandと同じように広大な自然エリアとなっている。違うのはトレイルが整備されていて、歩いて行ける場所が多いこと。一度では周りきれないので、少しずつ調べたい。

American Coot swimming at Baylands Nature Preserve in the Bay Area in autumn — アメリカオオバン（American Coot）。日本で見かけるオオバンそっくりだが、額と嘴に赤黒いスポットがある。嘴の付け根側面のラインが丸みを帯びている。オオバンはここが尖っている。

Group of ducks at the water’s edge lit by the setting sun at Baylands Nature Preserve in the Bay Area in autumn — 日本にもいるハシビロガモ（Northern Shoveler）と、アメリカコガモ（Green-winged Teal）。アメリカコガモはかつてはコガモと同種と考えられていたらしい。
