Dumbarton Bridge Vista Point

去年、アメリカに渡ってきて最初に鳥を見に行ったのがこのDumbarton Bridge。アジサシを観察するのに良い場所だったが、それ以降は立ち寄っても思ったほど成果がなかった。今回、アジサシを見られそうだったので久しぶりに歩いてみた。

Close-up of a Forster’s Tern flying straight toward the camera at Dumbarton Bridge Vista Point in the Bay Area during summer — これは観察のし甲斐があるわいと思っていると、何か様子が変。一直線にこちらに飛んできて、近くでターンして戻っていく。どうも威嚇されていたらしい。

Small island within wetlands used as a nesting site by Forster’s Terns at Dumbarton Bridge Vista Point in the Bay Area during summer — アジサシの飛び立った場所を見てみると、いくつも営巣している様子。一羽こちらを見ている。水を挟んで50〜100mくらいは距離があったと思うが、かなりの警戒ぶりだ。

Group of American White Pelicans moving forward while probing the water at Dumbarton Bridge Vista Point in the Bay Area during summer — アメリカシロペリカン（American White Pelican）のグループ。街の公園にもいる。カッショクペリカン（Brown Pelican）は沿岸部に多く、内陸側にはあまりいない。

Black Skimmer flying at Dumbarton Bridge Vista Point in the Bay Area during summer — いちいち飛び込むより、飛びながらずっと嘴を突っ込んでおく方が楽じゃない？と面倒くさがりなアジサシがいつか始めたのかもしれないが、こんな姿になるまで何代かかったのだろう？
