The Great Egret is the same familiar species found in Japan. However, unlike in Japan, it doesn’t flee even when approached closely. A Red-tailed Hawk spreading its wings wide. White-tailed Kite. Apparently, these two species don’t get along well. Likely due to overlapping territories, I witnessed several skirmishes. A Red-tailed Hawk illuminated by the setting sun. Western Bluebird. There are deer as well. Given the name “Coyote Hills,” coyotes must be around somewhere. A contrail and a Great Egret. As the sun set, I searched the field for any owls that might appear. Certain that something must be out there, I wandered around until I came across a group of people. They told me a Barn Owl was nearby. It was nearly pitch dark, but I managed to get a record shot thanks to the camera’s capabilities. Unfortunately, it was too dark to track its flight.
