California Scrub-Jay (Coyote Hills)

A continuation from my previous post at Coyote Hills.

Cooper’s Hawk. The one I saw in front of my house the other day was also a juvenile, and this one looks young too, given the vertical streaks on its chest.

A California Scrub-Jay wandering around in the shade. It seemed quite tame, and with some patchy gray feathers, it appeared to be a recently fledged juvenile.

The pinkish base of its bill also suggests it’s a young bird.

This was another individual nearby, with even more gray plumage.
