A California Brush Rabbit, looking exactly like the textbook image of a rabbit. Jackrabbits, on the other hand, look a bit like kangaroos. The familiar California Ground Squirrel, busily eating what seemed to be grass seeds or something similar.Munching away with both hands. The California Scrub-Jay again, also seen in the previous post.I could see my own reflection and the surrounding scenery in its eye.A lizard that hasn’t appeared in the blog for a while—likely a Western Fence Lizard. While walking the trail in search of rabbits, I often came across droppings packed with fur. They were probably from a coyote that had preyed on a ground squirrel or similar animal.Along the wetland edge, there were numerous animal tracks. They seemed to include rabbit prints among others. Since this area isn’t frequented by dogs, coyotes must also come here.
