アメリカワシミミズク – Bay Area
Even in the San Francisco Bay Area, the outer coast tends to be relatively moist, with many areas covered in forest. In such forests, owls can sometimes be found.

It looks like a mouse. This was my first time seeing a harrier successfully hunt.

It switches the prey to its feet.

A Northern Harrier returning to its roost.

They keep arriving one after another.

As it gets dark, it becomes harder to tell whether birds are even present. As I headed back while scanning the forest with one last bit of hope, I spotted something.

The faint silhouette of an owl emerging among the trees. This is probably close to how dark it actually felt.
