I rarely encounter mosquitoes in the Bay Area, including at Coyote Hills, although they can sometimes be found in damp forests. However, this particular day seemed to coincide with a summer mosquito outbreak in the wetlands. Whenever I stopped for even a moment, I would get bitten repeatedly. It reminded me of the forests in Japan for the first time in a while.
