Canada Geese are commonly seen in parks and other grassy areas around the Bay Area. They are legally protected as migratory birds, but they are sometimes considered a nuisance because they leave large amounts of droppings and can become aggressive during the breeding season.

Apparently, quite a few Canada Geese in the Bay Area are year-round residents that do not migrate. With the climate here, I guess there is no real need for them to go through the trouble of migrating.
