ナイアガラ / Niagara

I went to Niagara Falls!

…That said, simply documenting a sightseeing trip isn’t the purpose of this blog, so here’s a record of the birds I observed during the trip. Nothing particularly special, but there are species you can’t see without visiting the eastern part of the country.

Upward view of Niagara Falls in spring
Common Grackle perched in a tree in spring at Niagara
Common Grackle – mostly black, but shimmers with color when it catches the light.
Blue Jay perched on a wooden post at Letchworth State Park in spring
Blue Jay – unmistakably vibrant. It ranges widely in the East and cannot be seen in California.
American Robin standing on the ground in spring at Niagara
American Robin – common across North America, not unique to the East, but this was the first time I’ve photographed one.

While none of these are rare in the area, they were nice finds for a casual trip.
