バンの子育て / Common Moorhen raising

This is a breeding point for Common Moorhen, which I went to see last year. When I checked on them, I could see that the parent birds were carrying food.

A Common Moorhen that carries fish in its mouth. It seems to catch fish as well, although this is not the image I had in mind. The illustrated book at hand says, “In addition to feeding on plant matter such as water plants, it also feeds on insect larvae and other insects.” I don’t know if it is a live fish or not.

Proceed with a big step.

It is hard to see in the background, but chicks have emerged.

Setting out again in search of food.

It swam quite close.

This time the chicks are clearly visible.

Two birds wait in a line for the parent bird.

These are Grey Herons sunbathing.

The same pose here and there.

I was also able to see a Brown Hawk-Owl.
