浄信寺 / Joshinji temple

I visited Joshinji (浄信寺) Temple in Setagaya Ward, also known as Kuhonbutsu (九品仏). As I was fed up with the large number of people in the Kanto region, I was very grateful to be able to visit a temple where I could pray from early in the morning. Since it was the season of autumn leaves, there were more visitors than I expected, including prayers and photographers.

Elaborate zodiac signs dug around the bell tower hall. Too bad you can’t get closer.
The most popular attraction, the large ginkgo tree, was crowded with many people.
This egret derives from the legend of Princess Tokiwa (常盤姫) of Okusawa Castle (奥沢城), which was located here in the past. Note that there is no bird called “white egret,” although they are generally grouped together as white egrets. It is tactless to say that the neck is short and the wings seem small for a great egret….
An old Japanese torreya (Kaya) tree, said to be 700 years old. I wanted to express a sense of density.
From the entrance of the main hall. I was able to enjoy the freshness of autumn.
